I've seen a couple posts on this, and felt like I'd share what worked for me The Steam controller input feature may also contribute to launch issues for Helldivers 2.
Including outdated Visual C++ Redistributable runtimes, GameGuard anti-cheat integration conflicts, and potentially Steam input settings on Windows 11. the game was able to install the guard anticheat on launch attempt & then actually launched - and after a looong black screen that had me searching new fixes, it eventually became playable and continued to the main menu. EDIT: Fix that worked for me was manually deleting the "data" folder and verifying integrity of game files again via steam.
